The Lake Nakuru and Laikipia self-drive trail combines Kenya’s top rhino destination (Nakuru — 25+ white rhino, 85+ black rhino) with the Laikipia Plateau’s wild dog packs, cheetah coalitions, and massive elephant herds — two parks that produce species completely absent from the Masai Mara.

Day-by-Day Route
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru NP (160 km, 2.5 hours). Afternoon rhino circuit on the south lake shore.
Day 2: Full Nakuru day — dawn rhino circuit, flamingo lake shore, Makalia Falls escarpment lion territory.
Day 3: Nakuru to Laikipia (180 km, 3.5 hours via Nyahururu). Afternoon Laikipia game drive.
Day 4: Full Laikipia morning then return to Nairobi.
